Engagement rings…a poll…?

My fiance’ and I are very different in terms of our taste in ….everything. With that I bought her an art deco style ring with black diamonds and normal diamonds. She loves it and everyone we’ve showed it to just thinks it’s great that it’s not the normal solitaire.

I definitely wanted a gemstone instead of a diamond. I wanted him to pick the color. So many people get diamonds. Typical diamond engagement rings are boring to me.

We’re in a long-distance relationship, so we looked at lots of photos online together. He chose one of the rings I liked, but I didn’t know for sure which one it was going to be.

He got me a beautiful .90 ct. dark royal blue sapphire with a .10 ct. diamond on each side, in 14 kt. gold. (I’m allergic to nickel, so most white gold is out for me.) It’s gorgeous. He picked blue because he wanted it to match my eyes.
