Color, when applied to white diamonds, is often misunderstood by people outside the diamond industry.
Most people think that all white diamonds are colorless. In fact, truly colorless diamonds are very rare. The diamonds used most often in jewelry are nearly colorless with tints of yellow or pale brown. These diamonds fall in the range.Within normal color range of natural color, closest to colorless, the more desirable and valuable diamond.
In the 1950s, the GIA has introduced the color grading scale DZ remains the industry standard.
GIA Color Grade Scale
D – F: Colorless
G – J: Near Colorless
K – M: Faint Yellow
N – R: Very pale yellow
S – Z: Pale yellow
How color is measured?
Color in white diamonds is most often measured by comparing the diamond to a set of stones "master" of color known. The stone over the "master" is E-Color. All diamond better than the E-Master color is rated D-color.
Each color class is actually a range limited colors. It is not an exact color for each grade GIA. Thus, an F-color diamond can be high, medium or low F-color. However, as long as the diamond is better than the G-color master, he receives an F-color grade.

Fluorescence
Fluorescence is a unique effect which causes some diamonds to produce a light (usually blue or yellow) when exposed to strong ultraviolet light. Some prefer a diamond with a few "blue fluorescence" because it may make the diamond in the "near colorless" or "yellow light" forks look a little whiter.
In the range "colorless, fluorescence has no effect on color, but it can cause the diamond to have a slightly milky.
Why is color grade of a diamond is important?
The brilliant, fiery bursts of light that radiate from a white diamond quality are unmatched by any other gem. The diamond acts like a prism, dividing light into spectral colors, which are then reflected that bursts of color, called fire. Any natural color in diamond light filter, reducing its fire and brilliance.
Color less in the diamond, the more colorful the fire, and the better the color grade diamonds. The better the color grade, the more desirable and valuable diamond.

Stunts Blunts & Hip Hop
$4.74 Diamond D's 1992 debut album may not have been hip-hop's first producer-driven album (far from it), but it was one of the first after the new-school era that suggested superior music could overcome lackluster lyrics. Not that Diamond wasn't nice on mic, but his rhymes were a triumph of function over form. It didn't matter though--you couldn't front on his beats, a loop-driven aesthetic that sparke... |
